




Lucero flamenco was founded by Maya Tatiana as a result of her dedication to presenting the authentic art of Flamenco. Over the past several years Maya has been working diligently with the dancers of Lucero to portray the feelings of strength, passion and joy which are the essence of this spectacular Spanish art form.
The music, dance and song of this established group have been enjoyed by audiences at the Old Town School of Folk Music at several of their popular Pena performances. Lucero also appeared at the Saint Helens Summer Fest and at the Old Town Folk and Roots Festival They recently traveled to the University of Ohio in Columbus were they performed a full concert and hosted a Master Class workshop led by Maya.
The artistry within Lucero Flamenco is a harmonious blend of classical flamenco guitar, rhythmic footwork, graceful dance movements and enchanting Spanish lyrics. Maya embodies the spirit of Flamenco hi her skilled dance choreographies and within her voice. In addition to Lucero, Maya teaches dance at the Old Town School of Folk Music, at Arcc Ballet and at her own Flamenquita Studio in Chicago. The elegant music of Lucero is played by the flamenco guitarist Mehran, also on staff at the Old Town School. He and Maya perform together weekly at the distinguished Meson Sabika in Naperville, as well as at various venues throughout the city.
The performances of Lucero Flamenco are a delight for all audiences. Ranging from 20 minutes to l ½ hours, the shows are a dazzling combination of colorful costumes, infectious rhythms and haunting melodies. Whether outdoors at a festival, in a school or in a theatre, a Lucero Flamenco performance is always an unforgettable event
