Biography

Maya Tatiana's fascinating dance background includes ballet, jazz and various ethnic dance forms.  Dance was a part of her life since early childhood.

Upon receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Illinois she launched a successful performing career.  She was a member of the internationally known Joel Hall Dancers, where she choreographed as well as danced and the Dahlena Mid-East Dance Ensemble.

Her flamenco dance training was with such masters as Nana Lorca, Maria Alba, Ciro, Edo Sie and Manolo Marin in Sevilla, Spain.

While living in Spain, Maya performed at the famed Molino Rojo. She toured in the U.S. with the Boston Flamenco Ballet, Zorongo Flamenco from Minneapolis and Art Espana from Chicago, IL.  In 1985 she appeared nationally with Jose Greco and his Ballet de Madrid.  She performed in the Opera Carmen, in the Passion Play at Chicago's Opera House, in Kansas City in Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and at Museum of Science and Industry for the opening of the Hispanic Arts Festival.

From her Mediterranean background, Maya portrays flamenco with irresistible sensuality, pride and elegance.

Here is what Sam Lesner of the Hyde Park Herald said of her dance "Maya--elegant, gifted dancer in both the classic style and gypsy flamenco." Tony Daley from inside Lincoln Park said "Maya, a tail regal-looking red-head, utilizes controlled movements; a sinuous figure who creates a magical spell of extraordinary expressiveness."
